Legal to Drive.....a Boat!

In the last two plus years I've been living back on the Oregon Coast I've enjoyed the several trips Larry and I have made into the ocean and bay to fish, crab, and clam dig.  And in all this time, Larry has firmly held fast to his belief that it was against the law for me to take the helm when we've been out on the water.   Well.....I learned differently this past Saturday when I took a class in Boating Safety and Law from the Coast Guard Auxiliary out at the Station Coos Bay in Charleston.  About two hours into the program we reached the topic of who may operate a boat.  Turns out that if you are over sixteen and with someone who has their Oregon Boating Card YOU CAN PILOT THE BOAT!  So all this time I could have been the captain!  Look out Larry!  You're in trouble now!

Here are a few pictures taken during the DAY LONG class....the hour long break for lunch flew by!  At the end of the day I took the test and missed 7 out of 60 for an 88% overall score.  Had hoped to do better.....but hey, I passed!  That's all that really matters!  One more thing off my bucket list!
